As one of the worlds leading automotive suppliers DENSO’s global consumption of energy and materials is huge. This means that even a small % reduction can lead to massive savings. We continually review our operations for opportunities to save resources, however small. As a result, many of our factories have now achieved zero landfill status.

An example to the rest of the community
Some of our factories are so advanced in the field of waste minimalisation and energy efficiency that they set the standard for the comunity. One such example is DENSO MANUFACTURING UK which was recently used by government programme Envirowise for a case study "making more from less". Wildlife park
DENSO Marston’s commitment to the community and to the environment is beyond any doubt. When the company extended its factory for the production of car radiators on land in 1991, the company also made the decision to create a wildlife park. This park was given the name DENSO Marston Wildlife Park. Members of the community and approximately 360 children from local schools were involved in developing the park. More information...

Wastewater purification
DENSO Barcelona’s concern for the environment and for the safety of the employees has followed a policy that has led to the ISO 14001 Certificate and EMAS Certificate. DENSO Barcelona developed a wastewater purification plant, a warehouse for flammable waste and materials, protection systems and their own fire fighting team who are experts in executing the emergency plan.

Underground tanks
Since 1997 DENSO MANUFACTURING UK has been saving 15,000 m3 of water each year by utilising underground tanks to collect and treat rainwater which falls on the roof of the plant. This water is then reused in the production process at the plant.

Zero Emissions
In 2006 DENSO MANUFACTURING UK achieved zero emissions status. They didn’t stop there. Every year sees new projects to keep on reducing environmental impacts. One of their most recent achievements was the fitting of heat exchangers in exhaust ducts around the factory. These capture and re-use heat from the air before it is expelled into the atmosphere, reducing gas consumption by around 50%.
