DENSO Barcelona S.A. was established in 1989 and located at Sant Fruitós de Bages, just outside Barcelona. Adapting to meet new challenges, it has been growing ever since undergoing six expansions, the first in 1991, the second in 1993, the third in 1997, the fourth in 2000, the fifth in 2004 and the sixth in 2006. When the Spanish company started production, it manufactured one single product: ignition coils for Ford. Now, 691 associates manufacture several different products (electronic control units, stick coils, oxygen sensors, air flow meters, etc.) for many customers.
The associates of DENSO Barcelona have a strong commitment to their customers and their community. They have earned quality awards from Toyota and a supplier excellence award from Rover. Their community commitment is evident in their donations to cultural and educational organizations, primarily supporting the physically challenged.
The company’s concern for the environment and for the safety of its employees has led to the ISO 140001 Certificate and EMAS Certificate. DENSO Barcelona developed a wastewater purification plant, a warehouse for flammable waste and materials, protection systems and their own fire fighting team.
